About FGRS Information

The Florida Garden Railway Society had its humble beginnings in late
1990 when five individuals with an interest in large-scale trains got
together for a very informal meeting to discuss their interest in 'G' gauge
trains and their layouts.
From this and succeeding meetings, the FGRS has evolved into today's
group of families with their common interest in large-scale trains, including
indoor, outdoor and modular layouts.  The FGRS was incorporated as a
not-for-proft organization in the State of Florida in 1993.  Today, we have
over 250 families statewide from Jacksonville to the Keys.  The Society has
regionalized into three divisions: Central, Tampa Bay and Southwest Florida.

Each division holds its own monthly meeting, ideally on different weekends,
so that people can attend other regional meetings if they wish.

The Florida Garden Railway Newsletter is one of the common bonds that informs all members of the statewide activities.  Whenever members go to a monthly meeting, they can be assured of warm fellowship, good food and fine trains.

The Society has grown to the point that the public has noticed us.  The
12th Annual National Garden Railway Convention was hosted by the Society in
Orlando in 1996.  Over the years, the different divisions have participated
in various train shows open to the public in their regions and put on several
statewide conventions".

As of March 20th, 2010 we will be celebrating our Anniversary !!!
