Florida Garden Railway Society's

April 2001 Members Tour

April 7, 2001

Ron & Mary Halverstadt
The HALVERSTADT's hosted the April meet in Merritt Island, Florida.
It was a little of a ride for some of us but well worth it!
Ron & Mary's Railroad takes up a large portion of their front, side &
backyard. The track is set atop concrete forms and very well landscaped.
The Layout starts from the front yard, and continues thru the twin
tunnels along the side of the house until it reached the rear canal.
Its was well worth the drive to see this great layout.

Special Note:

Another fabulous Central Div. meet was held on April 7th at the home
of Ron and Mary Halverstadt in Merrit Island. What a wonderful day our
host and hostess had for us. Warmth, sunshine, shade and a nice breeze off
the water. We had a space shot, and an alligator  who watched the trains run
all day. Our ladies sure know how to cook and bake delicous foods and plenty
of everything. All of this was enjoyed by over 125 members and guests. Ron
and Don Pirson spent several days installing ballast and getting the tracks up
and running, and run they did, continuously all day.  Many various engines
and cars were run by many  of our members on the 750 ft of track.
A loud toot on the whistle for a great meet.
Thank you, Ron and Mary for a wonderful day enjoyed by all.

Cliff and Wynona,  Central Division Director
