Note from the Central Florida Division President:
We enjoyed another great first time meet at the home of Penny and
Lorraine Reed, in Orlando on Sat. June 9th. It was a beautiful sunny day with
lots of shade, and usually a breeze with approx. 40 members and guests to
enjoy this fine new garden railway, with lots of fine food, cold drinks and
great socializing with railway enthusiasts, from far and near. The RVRR has a
mainline and an elevated line running around the trees. For many of us, we
saw for the first time a bubble blowing car in operation. It blew bubbles
flawlessly all afternoon. Penny and Lorraine wish to give BIG THANKS to their
construction crew, Lorraine's God Son, Joey and Pete and Trish Hartes. A
great job done by all. Our hosts also provided 13 door prizes to lucky
guests. I wish to give a great big hug and thanks to Maryanne Glaese who
stepped in to run our raffle and her helper, Joey. They did a great job,
subbing for the vacationing Thompson's. Also a big thank you to Jim Stark,
from Jacksonville. Jim donated to the FGRS a 7 video set of Americas
Railroads, "The Steam Train Legacy." This video set will be turned over to
Bill Kuhn, our Libraian/Quartermaster and will be available for checkout by
our members. Thank You, Jim. I also wish to thank Pete Hartes for donating an
East Broad Top Coal Car and Wynona for donating a Heineken Beer box car for
our raffle. I will include a list of raffle winners and forthcoming events in
another article. Thank you Penny and Lorraine for a wonderful day and for
your wonderful new layout. A long toot on the whistle for the Reed's and the
great folks that shared this day.Thank you, Cliff and Wynona.
