Florida Garden Railway Society's

JUNE 2007 Members Tour

June 16, 2007

FLORIDA GULF COAST RAILROAD MUSEUM was the site of a State wide gathering.
WOW!  Over 150 FGRS members, families and friends came together at Parrish on June 16th to enjoy an afternoon of railroading at the Florida Railroad Museum. It was great to see the wide range of ages that came together for this event. We had infants, young folks, teens, more young folk and the “seasoned” railfans bridging the generation gaps. Our THANKS goes out to all who participated and helped to make this a successful event. We will look seriously at several requests to make this an annual event (perhaps in cooler weather).
You will be pleased to see the pictures that appear in the “Gatherings” section of the online Newsletter. Everyone was pictured having a grand time. How about the added time we got to spend on the train while they went through their switching procedures before we departed? And what about the opportunity to visit (up close and personal) all of the equipment at Willow ? Seems like they could use a few good volunteers to lend a hand with their efforts – think about it.
All-in-all it was a great opportunity for FGRS! The Tampa Bay Division thanks everyone for coming out and participating with a special thanks to Les Smout for getting the ball rolling. Stay tuned for news about next year…………
