Florida Garden Railway Society's

JANUARY 2007 Members Tour

January 20th, 2007

Dick and Pat MORRISON's were the hosts for the January meet for the Tampa Bay Division.

On Sunday, Jan. 20th  the Tampa Bay Div. held it’s first meet of 2008 at Pat & Dick Morrison’s.
It was a “brisk” afternoon with the sun working hard to keep the 45+ members and guests warm.
Their newly expanded railroad was done “Just In Time” for the meet. Pat worked hard at installing roadways
using the technique provided to us at the October meet by Pete Smith. While roads were being built Dick
expanded the trackage and added new crushed stone landscaping – including sifting it to gather “fines” to
use as track ballast. A job well done!

We had a very informative clinic by our resident Aluminum expert, Neil Cunningham. Neil brought samples
of his construction techniques in building lightweight spans which were strong enough to walk on.
Our thanks to George Miller for lining this one up.

The “Show n’ Tell” had some fine examples– including 2 from Fred Chatterley, who just joined at the
Tampa Fairgrounds show in Dec. Looks like Fred will fit in just fine with his skill to make a treasure out of
someone’s trash. Thanks to all brought something to share. Will we see more next time?

Raffle Meister Bruce produced some pretty good prizes for the raffle. And so did several generous
Div. members who added to the booty. Thanks!
And lest we forget – a big THANK YOU to Pat’s Mom, Helen, who contributed one of her hand- crafted
afghans to the raffle.

< style="font-family: comic sans ms;">Thanks to all for getting the New Year off to a great start.
