The Great Train Expo was held in Clearwater at the Harborview center.
The Great Train Expo Show on July 26th & 27th was a great success. Although the
space allocated was smaller than usual we had a total of 7 trains running!!!!
Thanks to John Rowland who has designed a new mountain construction technique we
had 4 trains running on the mountain which included 4 bridges for the trains to traverse.
There were two tracks on the upper level and two more on the lower level.
The mountain occupied a space 14' x 14'. Additionally, we added another train to run
around the base of the mountain.
This left us space to add 2 mainlines running around the perimeter of the display including
passing by the Barton Bors. Circus installed by Les Smout. We had the dispay area FILLED
with trains everywhere. Les even had 2 sidings filled with circus train cars used to transport
all of the circus attractions.
We were a true SHOW STOPPER! Being the first thing the public encountered upon entering
the hall we had the doorway blocked at times as children and adults of all ages stopped to
first see the circus and then the mountain with a variety of trains running around it.
We were visited by both Thomas and James both of which were huge hits runnning around
the mountain.
Least I forget, we must also call attention to the large paddle boat that Jay Archer
had moored on the river at the base of the mountain.
A great BIG Tampa Bay THANK YOU to all who made this possible by bringing scenery,
trains and accessories. Once again, we couldn't have done it without you!
