APRIL
2009 Members Tour
The GILBERT's hosted the April meet for the Central Division.
It was another beautiful day and several trains were running. Everyone had a great time
watching the trains and visiting with friends and guests. Vic Gilbert gave a Quick Tip Corner
demonstration in bridging LGB tracks with wire. The method he used nearly eliminated any
track conductivity failure over the 13 years his track has been down. He mentioned that this
method has been used on the entire track on the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children display
for the last 2 ½ years with no track related electrical failures. Since starter sets are used at
APH, Vic also gave a short review of the new Piko starter sets.
We had show and tell displays from Fred Graff and Jim Hickman. Fred displayed a beautiful
two story cedar wood hotel he is building. Jim demonstrated modifying people to change
from modern to western era clothes. He showed how to reposition arms, etc. so the people
could be in different activities. He also showed a beautiful teepee he made using surplus tile
liner. Jim demonstrated using a crimping tool to imitate a corrugated roof.
