I am working on my father rail road. he is 95 and cannot longer build his building and take care of the garden. I am interested in helping him get the railroad back in shape so he can see it run at least one more time.....

I put off joining for a few years, because I wished to have a more established layout and could contribute more; which was a mistake, because there was much more that could have been accomplished and enjoyed had we joined earlier!!

New to Florida from Illinois as of Jan 2010! I had the "Hawthorn Railroad" in Barrington Hills, IL. It was track powered with remote control, built on a hillside, so many trestles. It was about 350' of track. It also passed under our gazebo. I also had a raised railroad around our family room, about a 90' loop with 2 sidings. I am in the process of building a new layout outdoor in Sarasota. The challenges of building in Florida are sure different than in Illinois! I brought everything to Florida, including all the trestle bents I constructed in IL, and all the trains. I plan to do more this fall/winter, including local layouts. Any suggestions?

Is it wrong to mix N-scale houses into an O-scale set, if you put them on a distant hill so they look really far away?
